My left knee is weaker since my last MS attack. My physical therapist has me doing squats against a wall. When raising back up, you have to be sure your lower back stays against the wall & you don't cheat by lifting the lower back off the wall & not fully using your thighs to raise back up. I've since learned that my niece had to do the same exercise in high school when she was on the volleyball team.

If the reason your doing the strengthening is to reduce knee pain, there is very little research that shows this by itself will improve your joint health. I encourage anyone with knee pain to read Doug Kelsey's "Runner's Knee Bible"...I found this while researching my own knee pain, and his publication provides a huge amount of knowledge about joints, especially the knee and how to rehab it.....think hip flexibility...he is a physical therapist with over 25 years....it made logical sense to me, so I followed the recommedations, rehabbed my own knee and have never looked back. I have sent several people to the same info who have had great results, and I continue to use the knowledge to maintain joint health as an active triathlete at age 51.
