Whenever I Skip Desserts As A Diet Strategy, I Binge. Any Suggestions?

Don't skip dessert! Instead plan a special dessert a couple of times a week and include it in your eating plan. Then you can really enjoy it! I also use this strategy at work to avoid eating junk food other people bring in - ask myself if I would rather have the crappy store bought doughnut or enjoy a delicious piece of homemade pie on the weekend. :)

I have the same problem and have ate copious amounts of sugar when I binge!! Sugar is literally like white powder cocaine to me and I have to fight my urges quite frequently! Dark chocolate squares and thick, fruit blended smoothies with dark chocolate shavings on top really seem to hit the spot. I hope this helps you in some way. Keep us posted!

Well if you skip and then binge, the best way would be not to skip! Reduce your portion size, then start swapping nutrient-poor ingredients with more nutrient-dense ones. Swap fruit for syrups, greek yogurt or yogurt for cream, etc! I would also invite someone to know about you goals and have them hold you accountable. Or start tracking your food intake daily! If you write it down, you're more likely to feel accountable for your own eating!

I find that when I'm craving sugar I really need something with a healthy fat. Almond butter with an apple works great or a handful of nuts and a small square of dark chocolate. Or some toasted coconut ribbons and a clementine orange.

Rethink your dessert! Dark chocolate squares, frozen yogurt smoothies, sorbets instead of ice-cream, all-fruit bars are some alternatives.

I am kind to my subconscious, which can override my best laid plans. To divert the craving allow for it as others have noted. But slowly reduce the portion. Switch out fruit over processed treats, Greek yogurt for whipped cream and ice cream.
